Easy Edible Cookie Dough Bites Recipe (1)

The best edible cookie dough bites recipe keeps a lot of the same ingredients of cookies but removes the dangers of eating it raw. There are a couple of reasons eating raw cookie dough is not a good idea. But you can easily remove those reasons and create a dough that tastes exactly like it does normally.

However, you can actually eat the dough raw in this edible cookie dough bites recipe. In fact, these dough bites make fantastic party snacks, or even party favors. You can do so much with these little balls of delight. We still haven’t even gotten to the best part.

Think about the times you would make cookies. There is a good amount of time that goes into making cookies. You have to mix the dough, roll them into balls, and then bake in batches. Each batch takes about 10 minutes or so. But this snack will be done in the amount of time it takes to bake a batch and a half of normal cookies.

Edible Cookie Dough Bites Ingredients

The most important aspect of this recipe is the ingredients. That could be said about most ingredients. However, there is extraordinarily little baking time to worry about. You will simply be gathering the ingredients and mixing them together.

There will be a little bit of baking to do but that is just to clean the flour. The rest of the ingredients are remarkably similar to regular cookie dough. You will need butter, light brown sugar, vanilla extract, and chocolate chips. You will also be using milk in this recipe.

Dangers of Raw Eggs

There are two ingredients that are dangerous in raw cookie dough. Those two ingredients are eggs and flour. Eggs are obvious, you can’t eat raw eggs without running the risk of salmonella. Eggs are often heat sterilized, but the bacteria are on the shell as well.

That bacteria makes its way into the food when you crack the egg open. The odds are actually small, but any risk of catching salmonella is not worth it. We won’t even get into the symptoms you would experience.

Dangers of Raw Cookie Dough

Then there is the flour. Flour actually holds loads of bacteria and is more dangerous than the eggs. Unlike eggs, flour is not heat treated before it is bagged and shipped. That means it is an absolutely raw ingredient. Baking and cooking will remove that bacteria.

In fact, that is why there is a little baking involved in this recipe. You will bake the flour to kill off the harmful bacteria and that will make it as safe as eating fully baked cookies. E. coli is one of the major bacteria in raw flour, but it is far from the only one.

This step is especially important. We can easily make edible cookie dough bites without eggs, but we can’t do it right without flour.

Directions

Bake flour on a baking sheet with parchment paper for 10 minutes. (This will kill any bacteria that might be in the flour.)

Add brown sugar and butter to a mixing bowl and combine until smooth.

Add vanilla and milk.

Mix in flour until batter is silky smooth, and then add chocolate chips.

Roll dough into bite-sized balls and refrigerate. Enjoy!
