It is well know that 3 PM is the time when hunger tends to increase. That’s why I love to keep a great supply of easy 3 PM snacks on hand that I can grab quickly. And not just for myself, but for the kids as well. Mama isn’t the only one that gets grouchy when she gets hungry. Kids do too. Often times we are running errands or the kids are arriving home from school and looking for something to eat before dinner. 3 PM is the key time to be prepared with quick snack ideas for the hungry kids or to combat the desire to visit the nearest Fast Food joint.

There are lots of great ways to have a quick 3 PM snack ready with just a little planning once a week. Such as throwing your favorite Kellogg’s cereal into a bowl of yogurt. The kids love to come home and have a bowl of their favorite Kellogg’s cereal in milk after school. Or making a kid friendly trail mix out of Kellogg’s Corn Pops cereal andKellogg’s Frosted Mini-WheatsCereal.

In just 5-10 minutes one day, I am able to make enough kids trail mix recipe snack bags to last us the full week! The kids were over the moon! They take a bag to school in their backpack for when they get hungry at recess time. And I have more made up in portion bags in our snack basket for when they get home from school.

I seriously love how I can get a full week’s worth of snack trail mix bags ready in just a few minutes. First decide how many snack bags you need for the week. And then that is how many you will need to prepare in one sitting. Once you are finished making up the trail mix bags, put them in a cute basket in the pantry (for organization purposes) and you are now done until next week!
